Roll away your stone, I’ll roll away mine
Together we can see what we can find
Don’t leave me alone at this time,Uni is back in full flow today as I got a new project brief 'Constructing Realities and Telling Tales'. No clear ideas on how I go about this have come to me so far, however I only got it a matter of hours ago so not to worry. The images my tutor pulled up on the slideshow were not what I was expecting see from the project title. Deeply disturbing constructed images seemed to be the main theme of photos he selected. Concentrating on images from the artist Joel Peter-Witkin. In a nut shell he concentrates on very thought out and detailed photography set ups for his photo shoots. I admired his perfectionist approach to his photography as an art form however I started to stumble and lose interest in his work as we began to view his published photographs.
"Finding beauty within the grotesque, Witkin pursues this complex issue through people most often cast aside by society -- human spectacles including hermaphrodites, dwarfs, amputees, androgynes, carcases, people with odd physical capabilities, fetishists and "any living myth . . . anyone bearing the wounds of Christ." His fascination with other people's physicality has inspired works that confront our sense of normalcy and decency, while constantly examining the teachings handed down through Christianity"

I'll be using some of this blogger space to keep putting forward some ideas. Hopefully by typing them up it might inspire or trigger some ideas that I could go out and shoot and develop.
Away from photography business and back to my day to day activities. Recently, they've gone a bit like this...
Been starting to get into running. Over the Christmas holidays at the gym I did a lot of running. Slowly started to shave of time on a set distance. It was good to see my progress over the holidays. Every day I could feel the positives and began to feel more confident in my physical fitness. I'm really pleased to say that I've kept this on at University. Matt and me have mapped out an 8km route which we can add to with ease. I find running so really nice and relaxing, clears my mind from day to day stuff that can easily get me down.
I haven't been out drinking in a while, which is an odd thing to occur although in a way I'm enjoying it. I'm not blowing £20 in a club instead I'm spending it wisely on better things. Saying this I do believe I'm meant to be going out tonight. So no doubt, I'll spend £20, get hammered, not talk to any girls, bust out some shapes, go home and watch some late night iplayer. It's how I spent most of my last semester. It's the normal night out for moi.
Really glad Miss Tydeman came back to Gill Street now. Flat 6 is once again in full swing. She's a big hoot. Also a fellow blogger, check her out. She has taupe coloured finger nails. Beware. Apparently they are the in colour.
I don't miss home.
